Third COMPUTER VISION PROBLEMS IN PLANT PHENOTYPING (CVPPP) seminar will be held in Venice at the end of October 2017 and the International Conference on computer vision (ICCV) Co organized. The conference is organized by the University of Edinburgh in the UK, Germany and the UK University of Nottingham Research Center juelich.
Following the 2014 International Conference on computer vision (ECCV) and the 2015 British machine vision Conference (BMVC) during the CVPPP conference successfully held the third session of the conference was to continue to discuss the problems and challenges in computer vision research field of plant phenotype, while sharing the latest technology. Plant phenotypic analysis focuses on differences in plant structure and function (phenotype) caused by genotypic differences (i.e., genetic code differences) and environmental factors. Plant phenotypic knowledge is an important component of knowledge based biological economy, and it is crucial to the production of grain, feed, fiber and fuel.
Traditional phenotypic data are manually measured, and graphical analysis has been used more widely in phenotypic analysis. High throughput, anti transformation, accuracy and reliability are the basic requirements of graphic analysis, but these applications need to be different from the common tasks in the field of computer vision.
Plants are complex self regulatory bodies, and their complexity will increase over time. Typical phenotypic problems include measurement of size, shape, 3D apparent structure, and other structural traits of plants and their organs. In many cases, we need to make quantitative description of plant community, the core problems including reliable detection and multi label on the structure of similar objects (multi-label) segmentation and reconstruction of the mirror, and the overlapping surface characteristic. Quantitative description of the growth of these complex organisms is critical, and appropriate tracking, optical flow and (or) scene flow estimation methods are needed. The tracked object will change its appearance over time. In some cases, plants can obtain images under controlled conditions, but they are more likely to be more challenging to the natural environment, such as greenhouse or field, then the automatic acquisition agreement, access to a large number of images.
